Wellfleet Drive-In Open for the Season

May 13th, 2009

I drove by the Wellfleet Drive in the other day and it is now open for weekends.  If you want to know what is playing see their website at www.wellfleetcinemas.com  I know I am looking forward to taking the family to the drive-in in the early summer.  It is fun for everyone!  Other things to know about the Wellfleet Cinemas is that they have much more than the drive-in.  There are indoor cinemas for rainny summer days, a mini-golf course, dairy bar, and a flea market (the best flea market in the area).  If you haven’t been there check it out.  If you are looking for some old-fashioned fun make it a stop on your next trip to Cape Cod.  If you want some more information about the Inn at the Oaks visit us at www.InnAtTheOaks.com

Whale Watch Season

April 27th, 2009

The 2009 Whale Watching Season has begun. We had some guests go out in Mid April and had a great time. They saw a pod of dolphins and 2 different types of whales, for a total of 8 whales. The Dolphin Fleet goes out of Provincetown. They have anywhere between 3 and 12 departures a day depending on the time of year. The Dolphin fleet has a naturalist on every trip and they have been studing these whales for years. Many of them are named and can be identified by their tail fin. A whale watch is a lot of fun for the whole family. If you and your family are interested in Whale Watching trip on your Cape Cod Summer Vacation or Spring getwawy, let us know when you make your reservation, we can make a reservation for your trip for you. We also offer a spring and summer whale watch packages. If you would like to contact the Dolphin Fleet directly their website is www.whalewatch.com Read the rest of this entry »

Eastham Windmill Weekend

March 11th, 2009

The photo above is from our Inn at the Oaks float in the Eastham Windmill Weekend Parade September 2007. We had a great time and so did the kids. The theme of the parade was broadway, so we chose the Wizard of Oz. The kids dressed up as the characters (the little fairy is really Glenda the good fairy princess). We had lots of fun. Windmill Weekend is Eastham’s Celebration at the end of each summer. The celebration is the weekend after Labor Day. This year it falls late, September 11/12/13. There is lots going on from a Car Show (which Don usually enters his 1946 Allis Chalmers), Sand Art Contest at First Encounter Beach, childrens games on the green, Square Dancing, cookout, road race, parade and much much more. The Parade goes right down Route 6 past the Inn. If you find yourself on the Cape that Sunday afternoon come and watch the parade at the Inn. The Committee is currentlly planning this years activities if you would like to find out more please visit their website at http://www.easthamwindmillweekend.com/index.html. The theme for 2009 is “By the Sea, By the Beautiful Sea”. Come join us for Eastham Windmill Weekend, Fun for all!
