MEET THE INNKEEPERS
About MariRose and Bernie Lynch!
Welcome to Cape Cod Inn at the Oaks! We’re MariRose and Bernie Lynch, longtime Eastham residents passionate about preserving this 1896 Queen Anne Victorian. Blending historic charm with modern comforts, we’re excited to share it with you. Learn more about us on the "About the Innkeeper" page!
Built in the Late 1800s
Built in the late 1800's, the inn has a rich history of welcoming guests since the 1920s. Notably, naturalist and author Henry Beston stayed here while writing his classic book, The Outermost House. Beston’s work, inspired by the Cape’s untamed beauty, is said to have contributed to the establishment of the Cape Cod National Seashore, signed into law by President John F. Kennedy in 1961. Thanks to this legacy, our cherished coastline is preserved for generations to come.

Our Historic Baby Grand
In 2020 The Cape Cod Inn at the Oaks was generously gifted a 1922 George Steck Duo Art Baby Grand Player Piano by Catherine and Jeffrey Jewett of Brewster, Massachusetts.
The piano was purchased by Catherine’s grandfather, Walter Knapp, in New York in the early 1920’s, and was part of the family’s history for nearly 100 years. In 1992 the piano underwent a complete restoration and refinishing. Facing the inevitable downsizing, the Jewett’s wanted to find a new home for the piano in a historic home where it would be appreciated and enjoyed. The Inn’s library had the perfect space for the piano.
Along with the piano, the Jewett’s also donated over two dozen mint-condition antique player piano rolls and numerous music books. Guests may see the piano and music in the library. We are happy to allow guests to play or listen to the piano if requested. The Inn at the Oaks is delighted to be the next steward of this historic and beautiful instrument.
